Firms appointed to Manchester's professional services framework
Transport for Greater Manchester has appointed over forty firms to its framework agreement for external professional services.
The transport delivery arm for the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is responsible for investments in improving transport services and facilities in the Manchester region. Transport nodes under its remit include the Manchester Metrolink (a light rail system), rail, buses, highways and cycling paths.
In a bid to streamline its external spending (and the quality that comes with it), TfGM uses a framework agreement for hiring external firms. The new consultancy framework covers all services that could be required in relation to transport infrastructure, including development & regeneration projects, major service projects, environmental projects, and innovation projects to advance wider connectivity and accessibility in the region.
Following a highly competitive tender process, TfGM selected preferred supplier across the ten different lots of the framework. The four-year contract has an estimated total value of £90 million. The list of winners includes a host of big name engineering consultancies including Aecom, Arcadis, Mott MacDonald, Turner & Townsend and WSP.
From a management consulting perspective, Ernst & Young, KPMG, Jacobs (the parent of PA Consulting), Deloitte, Grant Thornton (which recently took up a new office in the city) and Steer Davies & Gleave won the lot for commercial and financial advice. Meanwhile, law firms Ashurst, Gowling WLG, Addleshaw Goddard, DLA Piper, Squire Patton Boggs and Weightmans were selected for legal work (lot 9).
The framework runs until March 2025 and will be used by TfGM and the 10 local authorities in Greater Manchester.
