Accenture establishes Centre for Innovation in Dublin
Accenture is preparing the launch of a Centre for Innovation in Dublin. The new centre will focus primarily on identifying, developing and scaling technological solution to client needs. Roughly €25 million in funds have been reserved to set up the hub, a move which is set to create 200 new jobs in the Dublin region.
Innovation remains a hot topic in a world in which new techniques or technologies have the potential to create disruptions within business. According to a recent Capgemini Consulting report, business around the globe are increasingly investing in innovation centres, hubs which foster an innovative ecosystem and culture. The consulting industry too has sought to help nurture innovation through the creation of innovation centres around the world. EY for instance recently opened a centre in Madrid, KPMG opened an startup incubator in the US, while Accenture opened a financial services innovation centre in Jakarta.
Accenture’s latest centre, dubbed the Centre for Innovation, will soon open in Dublin, and aims to provide research, incubation and pilot innovations for cross-industry and industry-specific client needs. The centre will focus primarily on identifying innovative solutions based on new technologies, and then providing the conditions in which those solutions can be scaled to client need.
The project will see the firm invest €25 million and hire more than 200 staff to the centre. The new recruits will predominantly be focused on technical solutions, including cognitive computing, Internet of Things, advanced analytics, security and digital marketing. The new centre joins Accenture’s global network of innovation labs focused on technological solutions, located in Bangalore, India; Sophia Antipolis, France; Beijing, China; and San Jose, California and Washington, DC, in the US.
“Ireland has become a technology hub in Europe and is a rich source of highly skilled talent in science, technology and engineering. Given this, Dublin is the perfect location for our new Centre for Innovation,” says Jo Deblaere, Accenture’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive, Europe. “This is a strategic investment for Accenture and part of our continued commitment to bring new insights and innovative solutions to our clients around the world.
FinTech hub
A recent report from Accenture highlighted that Ireland is regarded as one of Europe’s key hubs for Fintech innovation and activity. Deloitte too recently highlighted the potential, bringing forward that the Irish government is paying a major role in thrusting FinTech maturity in the country.
