Publicis Sapient is a digital transformation group which helps established organisations get digitally enabled, both in the way they work and the way they serve their customers. The firm’s 20,000 people and 53 offices around the globe have seen keen demand for its services in recent times.
As clients look to leverage innovative new technologies to improve their productivity and cut costs, organisations have tasked Publicis Sapient with a variety of different projects. Examples of this include Heathrow Airport asking the firm to help reimagine its digital offering, and British Gas tapping the company to develop a market-leading app.
In order to meet this heightened demand, Publicis Sapient has seen in the new year with a string of hires. In January, MIT alumni Quinnton Harris and Karin Giefer joined the firm’s ranks to help it improve its customer-centric offering to clients. Now, the firm has secured the arrival of Ian Wharton – who arrives as Executive Creative Director in Publicis Sapient’s London office. He is expected to drive design excellence within Publicis Sapient’s global experience capability, with a focus on quality in craft.
Wharton commented, “To have world-class design, technology and business consultancy working in unison, and at scale, is a rare opportunity. This an evolving and progressive team that is well-placed to help the most ambitious global brands thrive.”
Wharton joins Publicis Sapient on the back of a six-year spell at AKQA. There, he served as part of the global creative leadership team. His credentials also include being one of four founding partners of technology start-up Zolmo and leading the creative for Apple Design Award-winning apps developed in joint venture with Jamie Oliver. He brings a wealth of experience in design to his new role, having worked for global clients such as Formula 1 and Volvo Cars helping them to craft new products and brands for the digital age.
“I’m so excited to be welcoming Ian to Publicis Groupe,” said Publicis Sapient Chief Creative Officer Ben Mooge. “His track record speaks for itself, but if I can also speak for him, he’s a wonderful storytelling designer and great creative leader who will be a fantastic asset for Publicis Sapient and the whole Groupe.”
