Karin Giefer and Quinnton Harris join Publicis Sapient

Digital transformation firm Publicis Sapient has started 2020 by adding two new senior members to its Experience team. The specialist consultancy has welcomed MIT alumni Quinnton Harris and Karin Giefer to its ranks, as it seeks to improve its customer-centric offering to clients.

Digital transformation group Publicis Sapient has seen keen demand for its services in recent times. As clients look to leverage innovative new technologies to improve their productivity and cut costs, organisations have tasked Publicis Sapient with a variety of different projects. Examples of this include Heathrow Airport asking the firm to help reimagine its digital offering, and British Gas tapping the company to develop a market-leading app.

In order to meet this growing demand and better answer the evolving expectations of its clients, last year saw Publicis Sapient launch a new Experience team, blending data, machine learning, and creativity to build customer-centric experiences that deliver value to both clients and their customers. The new wing of the consultancy is led by first Chief Experience Officer John Maeda, a best-selling tech author.

As Publicis Sapient looks to build on this momentum in 2020, the firm has announced two more senior hires to its Experience team. Karin Giefer, who joins as Senior Vice President in Experience, is a renowned global expert in data and AI. Meanwhile, fellow MIT alumnus Quinnton Harris arrives as Group Creative Director in Experience, bringing a respected background in design and technology to the role.

Giefer has been working in the design strategy sphere for 20 years. Following a decade-long stint at Arup, this most recently saw her join MBB giant McKinsey & Company as an expert in digital, design and data. She has now opted to take on a new challenge, and will work to help operationalise Publicis Sapient’s LEAD experience system, which aims to make "dataful" experiences into the default for clients.

Explaining the motives behind her move on her LinkedIn profile, Giefer said, “So this is the part of my career where I was minding my own business delivering impact at McKinsey and then John Maeda called and said, ‘Hey do you want to come build something exciting [helping make businesses AI Ready] with the amazing people at Publicis Sapient?’ ...long story short, when someone offers you a seat on a rocket ship you get on. Buckle up!”

Quinnton Harris has been appointed as Group Creative Director, Experience and will also serve as Maeda’s Chief of Staff to maximise global exchange across Publicis Sapient’s Experience team. He brings over a decade of experience to the role, and prior to joining Publicis Sapient, Harris was inaugural Creative Director at Blavity, following a period of leading design at Walker & Company Brands – a start-up consumer products and tech company recently acquired by Proctor & Gamble.

John Maeda, Chief Experience Officer at Publicis Sapient, commented, “The expertise brought by Karin and Quinnton will undoubtedly strengthen Publicis Sapient’s ability to help clients thrive in the 4th Industrial Revolution with access to their blended engineering and artistic talents.”
