Consulting firm Begbies Traynor has added two senior professionals to its ranks, with the appointment of Martin Buttriss and Carolyn Best to head the company’s new Leicester offices. Both arrive from decade-long spells with FA Simms & Partners.

Begbies Traynor is one of the companies benefitting from spiked demand for business recovery services. In its latest financial year, the financial advisor booked fees of £60.1 million, up 15% on the year previous. As it bids to keep up with the heightened needs of its clients in the UK’s turbulent market, it has launched new offices in Leicester.

The site at Grove Business Park is comprised of licensed insolvency practitioners and business rescue experts with substantial experience in providing one-to-one confidential advice. From the new locale, Begbies Traynor will provide comprehensive guidance to company directors whose operations are in financial trouble and facing the prospect of insolvency.

The Leicester location joins a number of others in the Midlands area, including in central Birmingham, Nottingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton and Stoke-on-Trent.

As Begbies Traynor looks to expand in Leicester, it has boosted its new offices with the arrival of seasoned insolvency practitioners Martin Buttriss and Carolynn Best to head up the firm’s outfit at the Grove Business Park. Under their stewardship, the firm is planning to expand its on-the-ground team in Leicestershire. The pair join as partners, and bring with them a wealth of expertise providing insolvency and business recovery advice to companies across the region, especially owner-managed companies and growing SMEs.

Buttriss arrives from a 15-year spell at FA Simms & Partners, where he was a Company Director. Previously, he was an Insolvency Manager at Neville Eckley, having spent 12 years at the company. Best meanwhile also joins from FA Simms, where she spent 28 years, and latterly held the position of Director.

Commenting on his appointment, Buttriss, said, “The opportunity to lead the firm’s expansion in this area, growing our full range of business recovery and advisory services, is an exciting prospect. These are uncertain times for businesses across all sectors – especially Leicestershire’s manufacturing and logistics sector, which forms the backbone of the local economy. More than ever, it is important for businesses to be able to draw on good quality business recovery advice and consultancy services.”

Best added, “Begbies Traynor has established itself as a mark of quality in our industry, with a reputation for high quality advice and service delivered by approachable and down-to-earth individuals. That really resonated with me and I’m looking forward to playing a key role in the firm’s ongoing growth plans.”
