R&G Global Consultants opens office in Copenhagen, Denmark
R&G Global Consultants, a boutique management consultancy that specialises in supply chain and operations, has opened a new office in Denmark. The new hub in Copenhagen is the firm’s second hub in the Nordics, and fifteenth globally.
Founded in 2004, by the Dutchman Piet van Abeelen and the Frenchman Christian Mertz, both alumni of General Electric’s Lean Six Sigma practice, R&G Global Consultants is a consulting firm that specialises in performance improvement, with a focus on business process management, operational excellence, supply chain management and commercial excellence. The firm has, since inception, completed more than 700 programmes and projects at 150+ companies across industries, including manufacturing, wholesale, retail and professional services.
In a bid to improve its services to clients, of which the majority are corporates and multinationals, R&G Global Consultants has over the years internationalised its footprint to accommodate for cross-border work. Last year the consultancy for instance opened new offices in Sao Paulo and Bangkok, taking the span of its global operations to offices in fourteen countries. Last month R&G added a fifteenth office to its base, with the opening of an arm in Denmark’s capital city Copenhagen.
“We are responding to the needs of our Scandinavian clients. With a second office in the region (R&G also has a hub in Lund, Sweden), we have more in-depth knowledge of local markets and are able to operate more effective and more efficient”, says Mertz, Managing Partner for France, Switzerland, Italy and Scandinavia.
The Copenhagen office will be led by David Engle, who, similar to other consultants at R&G, has 15+ years of managerial / operational experience in the areas of process improvement and behavioural change. Prior to joining R&G, Engle worked for among others FLSmidth, an industrial engineering company, chemicals firm Sun Chemicals, and Coloplast, a specialist enterprise that supplies medical devices. He will work closely with Padraic Dempsey, R&G’s Lund-based Managing Partner for Scandinavia.
Commenting on the addition, Dempsey says: “David and I have been working in Operations ourselves for many years, we have personally experienced the challenges that every Chief Operating Officer has. It always comes down to the principal process in any manufacturing company that has to become faster, cheaper or better. At R&G we work closely together with our clients to implement all necessary changes.”
Earlier this year BDO opened four new offices in Sweden, in part after raiding a large team of professionals from rival Grant Thornton. Elsewhere in Europe, McKinsey & Company recently opened an office in Serbia, its ninth in the Central and Eastern Europe region.
