Strategy consulting firm The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has recently appointed Charles Teschner as the new Head of its North American capital markets practice. Teschner, who joins from McGraw-Hill, previously worked for more than 20 years for Booz Allen Hamilton and later Booz & Company. Teschner will be based in New York and report to BCG senior partner Philippe Morel.

Charles Teschner has more than 25 years of experience in the capital markets industry. Prior to BCG, he served as Executive Vice President of global strategy and corporate development at McGraw-Hill Financial—the parent company of among others Standard & Poors Ratings and S&P Dow Jones Indices. Before his nearly five years at McGraw-Hill, Teschner worked for more than 20 years for Booz Allen Hamilton and, following the split of Booz Allen in 2008 into Booz Allen Hamilton (US public sector focus) and Booz & Company (international private sector focus) Teschner also worked for roughly a year at Booz & Company (currently Strategy&).

During his 20-year tenure at the consulting firms, Teschner was based in among other Asia, Germany, Switzerland and London, where he advised blue chip players in the financial services and selected other industries on questions of strategy, M&A, organisation, and risk management.

At The Boston Consulting Group, Teschner will lead the firms’ North American capital markets practice. “All players in capital markets—banks, nonbanks, exchanges, technology firms—face an unprecedented set of challenges and opportunities. I’m delighted to be joining the preeminent strategy firm in helping those clients refine and execute their strategies,” says Teschner.

“Charles Teschner’s 25-year track record of strategic leadership for financial institutions will be of great benefit to the capital markets clients that BCG currently advises and to those we will work with in the future,” comments Philippe Morel, who runs BCG’s Capital Markets practice from London. Tom Reichert, BCG’s chairman of North America, adds: “The Capital Markets practice is a key element of our growth initiatives in the region. We are extremely pleased to bring Charles onto our team and look forward to the progress he will drive.”
