Strategy& partner George Atalla leads EY Public Sector

Global accounting and consulting firm EY has poached George Atalla, a partner of Strategy&, to serve as global head of its Government & Public Sector practice. Atalla will relocate from Dubai, where he led Strategy&’s Government & Public Sector practice across the Middle East and Africa, to EY’s McLean, Virginia office.

George Atalla has over 20 years of experience in the consulting industry, focusing on among others policy reform, organisational transformation, restructuring, public private partnerships and outsourcing. He started his consultancy career at Booz Allen Hamilton in McLean, Virginia, where he spent 11 years, in his last role as Principal. In 2008, following the split of Booz Allen Hamilton into Booz Allen (focus on US public sector) and Booz & Company (focus on private sector), Atalla relocated to the Middle East to bolster the latter’s presence in the region. In his last role, he was head of Booz & Company’s government and public sector practice across the Middle East and African region.

After six years at the strategy consulting firm (currently known as Strategy&), Atalla has decided to embark on a new adventure, joining counterpart EY as global head of its Government & Public Sector practice. Following his new role, the Lebanese origin – who succeeds Uschi Schreiber (appointed to Global Vice Chair Markets) – will relocate from Dubai to EY’s office in McLean.

George Atalla holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the American University of Beirut, an MBA from George Washington University, an MSc in Transportation from Northwestern University and an MSc in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He also is a registered professional engineer.
