4most expands actuarial offering with chief actuary capability
Risk consultancy 4most has expanded its insurance offering by bringing its chief actuary capability in-house. The new capability will be led by partner Sachal Gandotra, and will enable the firm to take on regulated actuarial roles for Lloyd’s and UK non-life solvency UK firms.
General Insurance Partner Gandotra commented, “Firms under pressure need someone who can step in with both the technical grounding and the authority to own the actuarial function. Taking the weight off internal teams at the moments that matter most. This capability allows us to take on a higher-trust, more accountable role and means clients can come to us not just for analysis but for the senior actuarial leadership they need to navigate change with confidence.”
4most is a specialist consultancy serving financial services, insurance, and banking clients, with a focus on advisory and transformation projects. The company, privately owned by Phoenix Capital, leverages deep sector expertise and innovative approaches to deliver measurable client outcomes, combining technical excellence with market insight to drive growth, efficiency and strategic impact for its clients.
The firm’s insurance capabilities will now include a qualified Actuarial Function Holder (AFH) expertise. The firm can now take on decision-making roles that include PRA-regulated branches and SPVs.
Led by Gandotra, 4most will be able to support actuarial functions at a senior level, including ownership of actuarial opinions and regulatory submissions, and can act as AFH or provide Chief Actuary services on an outsourced basis, rather than solely supporting those roles. This builds on 4most’s established expertise across reserving, pricing, capital modelling, risk and IFRS 17. The firm can now provide end-to-end ownership of the actuarial narrative, bringing governance and board-level accountability alongside technical delivery.
Firms across the Lloyd’s and UK market are navigating resource constraints, increased regulatory scrutiny and complex change programmes, requiring individuals who can combine technical depth with independent judgement and accountability. There are very few actuaries who hold the chief actuary (with Lloyd’s) practising certificate, have deep Lloyd’s and London Market experience and operate within a consulting model.
The announcement comes at a time of heightened demand for senior actuarial leadership. 4most’s new capability offers clients a credible alternative to traditional actuarial consultancies for regulated roles, with the hands-on delivery and senior accountability that firms increasingly require.
