Sheffield consultancy Herd scales leadership team to scale growth
As the firm plans for growth in the coming year, Herd has announced a reshaped senior leadership team. While Herd chases revenue goals of £5.5 million for the next financial year, its reshuffled leadership will enable it to take on more work, without losing the “hands-on approach” Herd believes is driving its success.
Founded in late 2022, Herd Consulting is a UK-based advisory firm specialising in business analysis, product management, and delivery management. The firm works with a roster of clients including the University of Cambridge and University of Oxford, the Home Office, the Ministry of Housing, Communities, the DWP, and Mencap, providing experience-led support across complex change and transformation.
The firm has grown to around 45 consultants in just over three years, with revenue more than doubling year-on-year since its initial launch – while the firm says it is on track for between £3.8 million and £4.2 million this year.
To support the firm’s next phase of growth, alongside continued expansion across central government, higher education, and financial services clients, the Sheffield-headquartered firm has announced a new leadership structure. As the business continues to scale its work across the public and purpose-led sectors, it aims to see revenues exceed £5.5 million in the 2026-27 financial year.
CEO and founder Jamie Toyne said, “Putting this leadership structure in place gives us the capacity to keep doing that as we scale. It means we can take on bigger, more complex work without losing what makes Herd, Herd.”
Herd’s team includes published authors, global guest speakers, and recognised experts across business analysis, process improvement, product, and delivery. According to a release from the firm, the new leadership structure has been created to support this growth, ensuring the business can “take on larger and more complex work” while also “protecting the culture, quality, and hands-on approach that have underpinned its success.”
The refreshed senior team comprises of CEO Toyne; alongside Director of Client Delivery Claire Ward, Director of Capability and Practice Christina Lovelock; Director of Client Delivery Ian Tidmarsh; and Director of Client Outcomes Scott Colfer.
Toyne added, “We’ve grown quickly over the last few years by staying close to our clients, backing our people, and focusing on real outcomes rather than just activity. We set up Herd to do things differently — experienced people, no cookie-cutter approaches, and a focus on doing the right thing rather than just producing another slide deck.”
