Take-up of ChMC accreditation grew further in 2025
The Chartered Management Consultant accreditation has marked another year of growth. As clients look to the qualification as a mark of quality assurance, uptake accelerated ahead of targets set by the organisers, by 10%.
Launched as a joint initiative by the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the Chartered Management Consultant (ChMC) is rapidly gaining traction among the leading UK consultancies of all sizes. Seeing it as an opportunity to demonstrate a level of quality control previously absent from the UK consulting industry, thousands of professionals have already transitioned through the course to obtain chartered status.
According to the latest figures from the organisers of the ChMC, another year of robust growth has now seen targets for accreditation surpassed by 10% in 2025. This growth may also have been boosted by the launch of the senior leader route – which provides a path for experienced professionals to obtain a ChMC alongside their daily responsibilities.
MCA CEO Tamzen Isacsson commented, “The momentum behind ChMC is terrific in the market and it is encouraging to see the value Chartered brings to clients, individuals and firms. For clients, ChMC accreditation is a mark of assurance demonstrating that consultants meet the highest standards of competence and ethical practice. For individuals, it’s a powerful endorsement of their expertise and commitment to professional development.”
Looking ahead, the MCA and CMI expect the expanded course to further boost uptake in 2026, with more than 40 MCA member firms having already committed to offering the ChMC accreditation to their teams. This marks a significant expansion and demonstrates the growing recognition of the ChMC as a signifier of trusted consulting services for clients.
The ChMC community now stands at nearly 4,600 consultants, with 2,262 professionals holding the full ChMC designation.
Ann Francke, CEO of the CMI, added, “At a time of complexity and change, clients want assurance that their advisers meet the highest standards of competence, professionalism and ethics. The strong take-up of the new senior leader route underlines the growing appetite for Chartered status at every stage of a consulting career, and we at CMI are proud to be supporting this momentum.”
