Saffery appoints Alastair Loasby as Director of Sustainability and ESG
National professional services firm Saffery has appointed Alastair Loasby as Director of Sustainability and ESG. The former KPMG’er joins from Business in the Community.
Alastair Loasby brings extensive experience of advising organisations on their ESG risks and opportunities, and creating business value by embedding sustainability into their strategies and operations.
As Director of Sustainability and ESG, he will help Saffery’s clients to design commercial sustainability strategies, guide and accelerate implementation, and develop tailored reports and disclosures aligned with international standards such as ISSB and ESRS. He will also support ESG regulatory compliance, lead capability-building initiatives, and advise organisations on responding to stakeholder expectations and sustainability trends.
Founded in 1855, Saffery is one of the UK’s larger accounting and advisory firms. The group supports mid-market businesses with accountancy, audit, business advisory, and tax services.
Commenting on his move, Loasby said: “I look forward to working with my colleagues to continue growing Saffery’s Sustainability and ESG offering, supporting clients as they navigate evolving regulations, stakeholder expectations, and emerging opportunities for innovation.”
Richard Collis, an executive at Saffery, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Alastair to the team. His experience gives him a unique vantage point on the prevailing corporate sustainability landscape and deep insight into businesses’ sustainability and ESG strategies and key challenges. We look forward to him bringing this expertise to bear as part of our Sustainability and ESG offering.”
Prior to joining Saffery, Loasby served as Director of Strategy, Insights and Innovation at Business in the Community, a responsible business network. Earlier, he worked for KPMG as an advisor.
