Opus Business Advisory Group welcomes Heather Bamforth as director

Opus Business Advisory Group has strengthened its advisory and turnaround capabilities with the appointment of Heather Bamforth. Serving as a director, she brings more than 20 years of experience supporting businesses through periods of challenge, transition, and growth.

Tim Dolder, managing partner at Opus Business Advisory Group, remarked, “Heather’s appointment reinforces our commitment to early intervention and proactive advice. Her experience and perspective will significantly strengthen our ability to help businesses navigate uncertainty and find a path forward.”

Opus Business Advisory Group is an independently owned advisory firm that assists clients to achieve their objectives, enhance value and attain the best possible results. Specialist teams within each division work together to deliver a seamless solution that addresses all of the clients’ needs through one team. The firm’s UK unit features a head count of over 150, and 38 partners across the group’s 15 offices – as well as one in Bermuda.

According to a release from the firm, the appointment of Bamforth reflects the company’s “ethos of proactive advisory-led support for mid-market businesses rather than purely reactionary insolvency”. She will now work closely with partner Frank Ofonagoro within the firm’s advisory team, supporting owner-managed and mid-market businesses in Manchester and across the UK.

Frank Ofonagoro, partner at Opus Business Advisory Group, noted, “Heather brings a rare combination of deep technical experience and genuine empathy for business owners under pressure. Her background, network and mindset are an excellent fit for Opus, and for the clients we support every day.”

Bamforth’s career spans Big Four, and regional accountancy firms, with extensive experience across administrations, CVAs, accelerated M&A and complex stakeholder environments, as well as advisory-led turnaround work across a variety of industries and sectors. She joins Opus following a senior advisory role at KPMG, where she played a key role in re-establishing the firm’s restructuring and turnaround capability.

Commenting on her appointment, Bamforth added, “What attracted me to Opus was the people, the culture and the clarity of purpose. Too often, businesses only access advice when their options have narrowed. I believe business owners deserve the opportunity and the time to fix problems before they become terminal. Opus’ advisory-led approach allows us to stabilise value, create breathing space and help clients make decisions based on facts, not fear.”

The firm is now a member of GGI, a world-wide association of experienced professionals to support companies on a global scale – and is expanding accordingly. To that end, Bamforth will also remain Chair of the North West Committee for the Institute for Turnaround (IFT), further strengthening Opus’ presence and influence within the UK’s advisory turnaround and restructuring community.
