Crowe announces three new partner promotions
Crowe has appointed two partners to its UK wing. Hayley Ives takes on the role in tax resolutions, while Matthew Howard and Marc Newman are promoted in the audit team.
Hayley Ives brings more than 18 years of experience supporting taxpayers to the partnership at Crowe. She joined the firm in 2013, and in her practice, she covers all aspects of tax resolutions, including fraud investigations and disputes with HMRC – such as those concerning penalties, assessments, and information notices. She also deals with HMRC challenges under self-assessment and voluntary disclosures.
As a CTA qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, she is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, having completed the STEP Diploma in Tax and Estate Planning, and of the CIOT’s Management of Taxes committee and HMRC’s Offshore Forum.
On her promotion, Hayley Ives commented, “HMRC now has unprecedented access to data which, when paired with the capabilities of AI, has the potential to widen the scope for investigations more than ever before. There is a growing demand for specialists who can guide taxpayers through increasing scrutiny with clarity and confidence. I look forward to working alongside John Cassidy and Sean Wakeman to expand Crowe’s offering in this area and help our clients navigate this evolving landscape.”
Matthew Howard joined Crowe as a trainee in 2007, has extensive experience supporting a diverse portfolio of corporate and non-profit entities. His corporate clients are predominantly owner-managed businesses across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, retail, and consultancy.
He specialises in statutory audit, but he is also experienced in Historical Financial Information (HFI) audits for companies seeking to float on stock exchanges, as well as performing reviews of acquisition balance sheets.
Howard said, “I am delighted with my promotion to audit partner, and I look forward to helping to continue to grow and shape the audit team across our UK offices. We have ambitious growth plans nationally and locally and it’s exciting to anticipate how these plans will come to fruition in the next few years.”
Marc Newman brings 19 years’ audit experience to his new role as Corporate Audit Partner, having started his career with Crowe in 2006. He has served as a director and Responsible Individual (RI) since 2023.
His clients include owner-managed businesses, private equity-backed companies and AIM-listed groups, and he has acted as Reporting Accountant on several AIM listings. He works across multiple sectors including manufacturing, construction, software, distribution and international trade.
Newman concluded, “I am very proud to have worked at Crowe for 19 years and am thrilled to now join the partnership as a Corporate Audit partner. I look forward to continuing to support my clients as they navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
