M&A advisors help close deal between care homes in Derby
Willover Property, which owns and operates Stanley House and Abbeydale Nursing homes in Derby, has been acquired by a local care operator. Meet the dealmakers that brought the transaction to a successful close.
Based just outside of the centre of Derby, Stanley House and Abbeydale Nursing (both located on Duffield Road) offer nursing care for around 80 older adults.
As part of the deal agreement, the two care homes will now join local care operators Iqbal and Perminder Sanghera, who own the New Lodge Nursing Home in Mickleover. Financial terms have not been disclosed.
“Stanley House and Abbeydale Nursing have been a cornerstone of Derby for five decades. Their values, staff, and community ties will remain intact. Our priority is to honour their heritage while ensuring seamless continuity in the exceptional care residents and families rely on,” stated the buyer in a statement.
The deal was initiated by NGA Care, a boutique consultancy firm that specialises in the buying and selling of care homes. The buyer was supported during the deal process by Penningtons Manches Cooper (legal advisory), while Hazlewoods delivered the financial and tax due diligence process. Funding was arranged by Barclays.
Seller Willover Property meanwhile received transaction support from PKF Smith Cooper, which also provided employment tax advice and supported the accounting side of the deal. Flint Bishop provided legal support.
Commenting on the sale, former director Mike Shepperson said: “It has been an honour and a privilege to care for so many wonderful residents and to work alongside a truly dedicated team. Abbeydale and Stanley House have always been about putting people first and I am confident that through the sales process, the homes are in excellent hands.”
