Crowe has expanded its debt advisory team in the UK, with the arrival of Ian Gilmartin. Joining the national audit, tax, advisory and consulting firm as a director, he will drive the debt advisory team’s growth, to better support corporate and institutional clients across the country.

Peter Varley, head of corporate finance at Crowe, commented, “The strategic expansion of our debt advisory service and the addition of Ian’s expertise significantly strengthens our offering to larger businesses. With ongoing economic uncertainty, it is a challenging time for many businesses and there is a need for trusted advisors to help them to navigate the increasingly complex funding landscape. Ian’s deep experience and market insight make him exceptionally well-placed to help clients access the right finance options.”

Based in London, Gilmartin brings over 30 years’ experience in debt advisory, capital structuring, and corporate banking, having previously held roles at Argyll Partners and Barclays Corporate Bank. His experience includes advising on transactions across a wide range of sectors, including retail, consumer, technology and media, energy and business services.

Crowe’s debt advisory team has knowledge and insight across the debt markets, including corporate debt, leveraged finance, structured and asset-based finance, real estate finance and capital markets. As part of that team, Gilmartin will work closely with the existing wider debt advisory team, which provides support to corporate clients, such as owner-managed businesses and SMEs with regards to their banking needs, including debt and lending advice, structuring appropriate finance packages, credit reviews and help with cashflow and working capital.

On his appointment, Gilmartin commented, “In the current economic climate, making fully informed decisions about future funding needs is critical. Our job is to fully understand a client’s business requirements and growth ambitions, and find solutions to drive optimal outcomes – demystifying the process along the way. I look forward to working with the team and leveraging our deep market insight, strong lender relationships, and sector expertise to deliver tailored, strategic advice to clients at every stage of their financing journey.”
