BIP to headline Northumbrian Water Innovation Festival

The Northumbrian Water Innovation Festival will take place from the 7th of July 2025, at Newcastle Racecourse. Known for bringing together the brightest minds across the sector, the event will feature a sprint led by consultants from global advisory brand BIP.
Northumbrian Water is a water company in Britain, providing mains water and sewerage services in the English counties of Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Durham and parts of North Yorkshire, while also supplying water as Essex and Suffolk Water.
Each year, the group hosts an Innovation Festival, where it looks at a range of challenges currently facing its business, as well as broader environmental issues impacting the wider water industry and the communities its customers reside in.
As water companies across the country come under fire for their heightened prices and ecological impact, the 2025 festival will see consultants from the UK wing of BIP hosting "ChemDo: Harnessing GenAI for Smarter Wastewater Treatment", a hands-on Sprint focused on one of the sector’s most complex and pressing issues.
“We’re delighted to support our client on such a critical and visionary initiative,” said Roei Haberman, CEO of BIP UK. “Innovation is at the core of everything we do at BIP, and this Sprint is about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. It’s an exciting moment, not just for the water sector, but for how we apply AI to tackle real environmental challenges.”
Building on the success of 2024’s clean water dosing sprint, BIP is now turning its attention to the more intricate world of wastewater. The ChemDo Sprint, lead by BIP’s xTech team, will explore how generative AI can transform chemical dosing and biological treatment processes , unlocking new levels of optimisation, sustainability and efficiency – bringing together wastewater treatment works managers, process engineers, chemical suppliers, digital innovators and environmental leaders to shape real-world, scalable AI solutions.
“This Sprint is a powerful opportunity for BIP UK to demonstrate the work we’re already doing to tackle the sector’s most complex challenges,” said Alison Dickson, partner for energy and utilities at BIP. “We’re not just talking about innovation, we’re delivering it. The Innovation Festival gives us the perfect stage to showcase our impact, exchange ideas with industry leaders, and collaborate with those who are just as committed to reshaping the future of water.”
The ChemDo Sprint is set to be one of the most ambitious and forward-looking projects at the festival, according to a release from BIP. Registration for the event can be found via the Innovation Festival 2025 website.
