Opus Business Advisory Group has promoted two members in its restructuring business to the next level: Amanda Hamlin and Sonya Brannigan. Both are based in Preston.

Amanda Hamlin joined Opus Restructuring & Insolvency in April 2024 and has quickly become a key figure within the firm, playing a leading role in several complex insolvency cases. She previously worked at Dow Schofield Watts and Cowgills, which is part of the Sumer Group.

Arriving in the role of Manager, she has now made the step up to Senior Manager. “I’m incredibly proud to step into this new role at such a critical time for businesses in the region,” said Hamlin. “I’ve had fantastic support from the team in Preston, and I look forward to helping even more clients find the right path forward as we face another challenging year in the restructuring space.”

“Amanda’s promotion is thoroughly deserved and a reflection of her exceptional work, technical ability and leadership, which have made a real impact on the business over the past year,” said Ian McCulloch, Partner at Opus Restructuring & Insolvency.

One level down, Sonya Brannigan has been promoted to Manager. She joined the consulting firm in November 2024 as Assistant Manager, bringing significant experience in insolvency from her prior roles. Brannigan previously worked for Adcroft Hilton and Leonard Curtis, among others.

“I’m delighted to have been promoted to Manager at such a key time for the Preston office,” Brannigan said. “Opus has a fantastic culture that supports personal and professional development, and I’m proud to be part of a team that’s focused on making a real difference to local businesses.”

McCulloch: “Sonya’s promotion is well-deserved and shows how we continue to invest in people as we grow.”

Opus Restructuring & Insolvency launched its Preston office four years ago, from where it supports businesses across Lancashire and the North West. The office works with companies in financial distress, and intermediaries such as accountants, solicitors and banks.

Last month, Opus Restructuring & Insolvency was named among the UK’s leading restructuring consulting firms for 2025 in a benchmark by Consultancy.org. The firm is part of Opus Business Advisory Group.
