11 February 2025 Consultancy.uk

Wil Schoenmakers has been appointed as the global head of retail and consumer goods. The move aims to position Newton to increase its offering to retail and consumer clients in Europe and North America.

Steve Phillips, managing partner, Newton, commented, “Wil Schoenmakers’ track record within the sector is exemplary and he is committed to spending significant time with clients on the ground to support their strategic delivery and ambitions. Everyone at Newton and I are very much looking forward to working with Wil to push the boundaries of our capabilities, our propositions, and deliver on our growth ambitions.”

Throughout more than 20 years in business, Newton has helped shape and deliver programmes across over 100 public sector organisations, multiple defence and infrastructure organisations, and leading retail and manufacturing supply chains. According to Phillips, the business has identified key growth opportunities in the consumer sector globally, and with this goal in mind, the firm opted to strengthen its specialist expertise, particularly in branded, global consumer goods with the appointment.

Arriving as a senior partner, Schoenmakers will position the business well to “capitalise on its competitive advantage” by offering enhanced services “across broader Europe and North America within the retail and consumer sector”. According to a release from Newton, he will be responsible for “expanding and evolving the impact and value that Newton is able to offer clients in Europe and beyond”.

Schoenmakers brings a 30-year track record in the consumer sector globally. Starting his career in Procter & Gamble, he gained a strong understanding of operational improvement, before spending time with PA Consulting as global head for consumer, retail and manufacturing, and established the company’s presence in the US and continental Europe. He was most recently at Korn Ferry, where he led the consumer team, specialising in organisation and cultural transformation.

Speaking on his new challenge, Schoenmakers said, “The team at Newton has some amazing talent across key areas of capability and I am very much looking forward to working with the current leadership team and the broader Newton organisation to accelerate our growth, further strengthen our position in the market and create even more exciting opportunities for our people.”
