In partnership with Monckton Chambers and Exton Advisors, NERA Economic Consulting has announced the line-up for its sixth annual UK Competition Litigation Conference. Taking place in early December at the ME Hotel, the event will feature experts from across the digital, legal and regulatory spectrum.
Since 1961, NERA Economic Consulting has provided guidance on important market, legal, and regulatory questions, helping to shape industries and policy around the world. The advisory firm’s experts and deep experience enable it to provide rigorous analysis, expert testimony, and data-powered policy recommendations for top law firms and corporations, as well as regulators and governments.
For the last six years, NERA has been leveraging that expertise to power the annual UK Competition Litigation Conference. Based in London, the yearly event focuses on how policy around innovation is transforming competition laws around the world.
The sixth UK Competition Litigation Conference will take place in London on the 6th of December 2024. It will feature seven central sessions, with a focus on recent cases and decisions, advancements in litigation strategies, dominance in various sectors, and the critical role of expert witnesses. Additional discussions will also cover the regulatory landscape, including insights into the Digital Markets Competition and Consumer Act (DMCC) and the Digital Markets Unit, while prominent issues anticipated for 2025, such as mergers and subsidies, will also be examined.
A number of NERA experts will bring insights from recent high-profile cases and emerging trends in competition litigation. Director Adrien Cervera-Jackson will lead the “Collective Actions in the Courtroom” session, which will highlight significant class actions from 2024, including discussions on certification, novel theories of harm, the Le Patourel v. BT trial, and recent settlement trends.
Director Gabriella Monahova will chair the session “The Role of Experts in Competition Cases,” with Senior Managing Director Grant Saggers joining to discuss expert-led processes, "hot tubs" and new empirical methods such as behavioural economics and surveys. And Managing Director David Matthew will discuss the new DMCC / DMU, regulatory appeals, and consumer protection in the session “A Changing Regulatory Landscape”.
Along the way, the Competition Litigation Conference will also feature speakers from Monckton Chambers and Exton Advisors, as well as from: Ashurst; LCM; Hausfeld; Linklaters and many other leading experts in the field. The event will be summed up with a keynote address by Ian Forrester, a former UK General Court judge and current judge at the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
The in-person event will take place at the ME London Hotel. The hotel’s location means that when the conference concludes, it will end with a networking opportunity at the Radio Rooftop Bar – providing attendees a chance to connect with peers against the backdrop of London’s iconic skyline.
