Opus Forensic Accounting welcomes Matthew Geale and Liesel Annible as partners
Opus Forensic Accounting has appointed two new partners, as it prepares for a busy start to 2025. Matthew Geale and Liesel Annible join alongside directors Rob Brooker and Lindsay Tarrant.
The Opus Business Advisory Group has the largest independent practice of restructuring and insolvency specialists in the UK, with a head count of over 100 and 29 Partners, across 14 regional offices. Offering restructuring, corporate finance, forensic accounting, turnaround, investment and rescue planning services to clients across the UK, the firm has recently been growing its operations.
Opus Forensic Accounting is the group’s practice carrying out forensic investigations on behalf of businesses, lawyers, barristers, high net worth individuals, insurers, and regulatory bodies. To help the group continue to expand in the coming months, it has added two new partners in its Leeds office.
Matthew Geale joins with over 30 years of forensic accounting experience, with expertise in supporting businesses with the calculation of damages in contractual disputes, a particular niche in disputes involving intellectual property matters, and personal injury cases, as well as assisting with mediations and settlement meetings.
Geale commented, “What attracted me to Opus was the high calibre individuals here and the exciting opportunity to be part of an expanding forensic team. We have significant experience across the full range of forensic services, something that I believe will help us enhance what we offer to our existing clients and win new clients.”
Liesel Annible meanwhile has specialised in financial investigations since 1993 and has vast experience providing expert evidence in the prosecution of serious organised crime and defence of corporate offences, as well as acting in civil matters involving a financial investigative element. She also acts in investigations relating to the Court of Protection, contentious probate and abuse of power of attorney matters.
She added, “I am delighted to be joining such a talented and widely experienced team. This can only help to provide our clients with the best advice and service for their litigation needs.”
Both Geale and Annible arrive from law firm Armstrong Watson, along with director Lindsay Tarrant. The news follows the arrival of fellow director Rob Brooker, a fraud and cyber-fraud specialist joined from PKF earlier in the autumn.
Nicholas Parton, head of the forensic accounting division at Opus commented, “I am delighted to welcome to the new members to our team. Rob, Matthew, Liesel and Lindsay are fantastic additions in both technical expertise and personality. It’s an exciting time for Opus Forensic Accounting and I look forward to capitalising on the momentum with further growth plans for next year.”
