Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has announced the appointment of Nigel Hinchliffe as a managing director. He joins the firm’s Manchester office, and will continue to expand the company’s growing gaming and betting advisory line.

A&M Managing Director Paul Aversano, who leads A&M’s global transaction advisory group, said, “Our continued growth centres on strategic talent investment and flexing A&M’s integrated platform muscle to solve challenges across the transaction lifecycle. We don’t just keep pace with market demand, we stay several steps ahead of it – and bringing and Nigel’s seasoned expertise and sector exposure is reflective of the strategic lens we have on the EMEA market.”

Hinchliffe brings 20 years of M&A experience to Alvarez & Marsal’s EMEA practice, specialising in buy-and-sell side financial due diligence (FDD) and has advised on a number of the large European B2C mergers that have taken place across the sector in recent years.

Hinchliffe added, “A&M’s global network of industry experts alongside Global TAG’s proven FDD capabilities are the perfect platform for our full-suite betting and gaming practice. Our freedom from audit conflicts, sector experience and global connectivity will make for the most responsive and insightful due diligence team in the sector.”

Prior to joining A&M, he formerly led KPMG’s Manchester transaction advisory team, also co-led the Big Four firm’s UK betting and gaming practice. Earlier, he also spent four years as part of the corporate development function of a FTSE100 gaming business, he is well positioned to provide clients with industry level insights throughout the deal cycle.

Looking ahead, in his new role, Hinchliffe will use that expertise to help expand A&M’s existing betting and gaming proposition across EMEA. This is a proposition which A&M has been working to grow in the last year in particular. As A&M works with clients from operators and regulators in the gambling sector, it recently installed Adam Rivers to head up the team as a managing director.
