Rinesh Dookhee joins A&M as managing director
Alvarez & Marsal has announced the expansion of its corporate finance practice in London with the appointment of Rinesh Dookhee. He joins as a managing director specialising in the consumer and retail sector.
Jonathan Boyers, head of corporate finance EMEA said, “We are pleased to welcome Rinesh to our team. His extensive experience in Corporate Finance and his strong consumer deals expertise are significant assets as we further expand our offer. Leveraging his expertise and A&M’s global platform, Rinesh will support the existing team in creating a world-leading M&A practice, which advises businesses on raising capital or selling their business to achieve their strategic goals.”
A&M boasts 9,000 staff across six continents, and has a strong focus on advising on deals and post deal strategy. This makes the size and health of its EMEA corporate finance practice a key concern for the company – especially as the region’s deal market returns to health in 2024.
Specialising in company disposals and acquisitions, Dookhee brings 17 years of experience in corporate finance, with a particular focus on the consumer and retail industry. With experience advising corporates, private equity firms and entrepreneurs, Dookhee spent the last 12 years with Deloitte, where he most recently served as director in the consumer and retail M&A practice – and advised privately held and publicly listed companies on deals ranging from £10 million to £500 million.
Dookhee also possesses cross-border experience includes transactions in India, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, and Hong Kong. In his new role with A&M, Dookhee will use this knowhow to expand A&M’s corporate finance practice in the consumer and retail sector across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
This encompasses retail, food and beverage, and consumer packaged goods, with a growing emphasis on sustainability. He will lead a dedicated team, with additional senior hires expected soon, to support privately-owned, founder-led, and management-owned businesses in the mid-market. This will include assisting with buying and selling companies, fundraising activities to secure necessary capital, and forming joint venture partnerships to leverage strategic opportunities.
Reflecting on his appointment, Dookhee added, “After two years of subdued M&A activity, we have reached an inflection point where businesses and private equity sponsors are ready to transact again, driven by a more stable macroeconomic environment and significant private capital fundraising. Alvarez & Marsal is perfectly placed to support management teams, business owners and private equity funds with their deals, offering a global and conflict-free platform with a full suite of services covering the entire transaction cycle. I am looking forward to continuing to deepen and strengthen our consumer and retail expertise, including through some exciting new hires.”
Earlier in the year, A&M also expanded its corporate finance offering with the news it would launch the service in Leeds. To oversee the process, Duncan Morpeth has been hired as the leader of the team across Yorkshire and the North East.
