The Sports Consultancy promotes Matt Wilson to managing director
The Sports Consultancy has appointed Matt Wilson as a managing director at the firm. The move comes after the advisory firm enjoyed sustained financial growth in the last year.
Commenting on his promotion, Wilson commented, “I am absolutely delighted to take on the responsibilities of my new role as managing director of The Sports Consultancy, building upon the exceptional achievements of the team so far, and I am excited about the future.”
Having joined The Sports Consultancy in 2014 from Deloitte, Wilson has been instrumental in driving the growth of the firm, including two office moves. In his new role, Wilson will oversee the company’s consulting offering, and will join the senior leadership team to forge ahead with further ambitious plans and initiatives as the company continues its rapid growth and transformation.
CEO and founder of The Sports Consultancy, Angus Buchanan, added, “It gives me great pleasure to announce Matt's promotion to Managing Director. This coincides with Matt's 10 year anniversary at the firm.
According to Buchanan, the last decade has seen Wilson help to develop The Sports Consultancy’s overarching consulting offering into “a large and sophisticated division with strategic, commercial and event pillars”.
Founded in 2006, The Sports Consultancy is a commercial advisory firm, which as its name suggests specialises in the sporting sector. The company provides a mix of management consultancy, commercial sales and negotiation and legal services to clients including some of the sports world's best-known rights owners, athletes, stadia and facilities, brands and investors. It is also named as a leading consulting firm within the sports and football categories of Consultancy.uk’s industry rankings.
The Sports Consultancy also recently picked up a key contract with Volleyball World, which has launched its bidding process to select the host city for the FIVB Men’s World Championship and FIVB Women’s World Championship in 2025 and 2027. The organisation will be supported by The Sports Consultancy, which will help to run the structured bidding process.
