Global professional services firm Kantar has appointed Mark Standley as managing director of its UK analytics practice. He will now advise clients on marketing effectiveness, brand positioning and wider strategy.

Speaking on the challenges Standley will face, Amy Cashman, executive managing director of Kantar’s insights division for the UK and Ireland, commented, “The world is swimming in data and our clients want help to cut through the noise to make better, informed decisions for their brands – and with global economic, political and social events evolving at such pace, they want this help quickly too.”

Kantar Group is a British professional services firm which has been serving clients since 1992. It has more than 30,000 employees working in 100 countries, having gained independence from design giant WPP in 2019. The firm’s UK analytics practice works with clients to make sense of large datasets, combining this insight with Kantar’s own proprietary data, to advise clients on marketing effectiveness, brand positioning and wider strategy. The practice also helps clients engineer their own data to connect data sources and maximise the value of the insights they offer.

Standley joined Kantar in 2009, and was previously head of innovation at the business. Looking ahead, he will now oversee the analytics practice’s ongoing growth and development, including its investment in AI. Kantar acquired the Hamilton AI platform in 2022 – the power behind its new Unified Marketing Measurement and Optimisation (UMMO) tool.

UMMO enables marketers to optimise their media budgets in close to real time, ensuring the right investment strategies to balance long-term brand building with driving sales in the short term. Standley’s emphasis will be on using technology like this to speed up analysis while drawing on the knowledge of Kantar’s experts to help clients understand how they should act on findings.

Standley concluded, “With Mark at the helm, our analytics practice is perfectly primed to support businesses as they navigate this turbulence, using cutting-edge technology and our teams’ expertise to get to the heart of what really matters to us as consumers.”
