Valcon launches ‘Project Delivery as a Service’ offering
European consulting firm Valcon has launched a new ‘Project Delivery as a Service’ offering, with the aim to help its clients effectively and efficiently run their projects across the full lifecycle.
Adam Skinner, who leads the firm’s Consultancy practice in the UK, says that the launch of the service comes in response to growing demand from organisations for “insight and cost control” around their projects.
Organisations across the UK spend millions annually on running projects. These are aimed at driving change, innovation, or dealing with special situations such as acquisitions or public offerings. According to the Association for Project Management, the industry today employs over 2.1 million staff and contributes 9% to the UK’s total gross value added.
“The industry has been crying out for a plug and play project and programme delivery service due to escalating costs and complex delivery environments,” says Skinner.
While estimations vary widely by domain and project nature, decades of research suggests that over two thirds of projects fail to meet the goals set in the business case. In construction and engineering, that number is even higher, while in the digital space, the fail rate has been creeping upwards in recent years as technologies become more wide-ranging and complex.
One of the key challenges around best practice project delivery is bringing together governance, project tooling, resource management, and reporting into an integrated symphony, enabling continuous steering and optimised decision-making. This is where Valcon’s ‘Project Delivery as a Service’ (PDaaS) solution comes in, says Skinner.
“The beauty of PDaaS is that it provides a tried and tested wrapper of skills, technologies and capabilities around the suppliers, workstreams and SMEs that make up a project – it gets everyone moving in the same direction, reporting in the same way using automation and data capture technology. And the scalability helps to manage the peaks and troughs of project delivery.”
“We developed the offering in response to industry-wide difficulties in scaling project and programme capabilities and escalating costs associated with project delivery. The solution is scalable, cost-effective, and can plug and play on any project with any supplier,” he adds.
Led out of the UK by Valcon’s award-winning project management team, the service is supported by nearshore locations (Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Croatia, Serbia and Romania) to ensure “the best service can be provide at a competitive cost,” says Skinner.
Valcon is a pan-European management and technology consultancy with 1,500 consultants and staff in eight countries. A large part of the UK team has their roots in P2 Consulting, a programme and project management firm that joined Valcon at the end of 2021.
The firm’s international footprint means Valcon can also provide its ‘Project Delivery as a Service’ offering to clients working on cross-border projects.
Developed in-house, the PDaaS solution has over the past months been road tested by numerous clients. “The results have been very successful and we’re excited about taking it to market.”
