Alvarez & Marsal boost UK business with suite of senior hires
Global management consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal has in recent weeks added a string of senior experts to its teams across the United Kingdom.
In its Financial Services practice, Alvarez & Marsal has welcomed four new senior leaders: Alan Coutts (Edinburgh), David Kane (London), Stuart Herron (London), and Roberto Stucchi (London).
André Medeiros has meanwhile been brought on board to co-lead the firm’s European Consumer and Retail group (alongside Erin Brookes), while Alvarez & Marsal Taxand (the firm’s tax advisory business) has added Kathy Lloyd and Chris Prout to its Reward & Employment Tax service line.
Alan Coutts has joined Alvarez & Marsal to lead the firm’s Asset Management practice across EMEA. Before joining Alvarez & Marsal, Coutts was Global Chief Operating Officer, Investments at abrdn, where he was responsible for shaping the investment operating model during the merger of Standard Life Investments and Aberdeen Asset Management.
David Kane has joined Alvarez & Marsal to lead the firm’s Alternative Investments practice across EMEA. He previously spent more than 15 years with EY, where he most recently served as a partner in the Wealth & Asset Management practice. He specialises in transforming front to back operating models for private capital managers.
Stuart Herron has joined Alvarez & Marsal to lead the Insurance capability across EMEA. He previously held senior leadership roles in industry and within Deloitte’s Insurance Advisory practice. He specialises in insurance M&A, transformation and value creation. Stuart has extensive experience in the UK and European Insurance market.
Roberto Stucchi has joined the Performance Improvement team focused on Banking. Before joining Alvarez & Marsal, Stucchi spent the last seven years at EY-Parthenon, focusing on corporate strategy, commercial due diligence and ESG; he also spent 11 years at Bain & Company and started his career atPwC. He brings more than two decades of experience working with banks in Europe and emerging markets.

André Medeiros has over 20 years of experience in growth, marketing and commercial transformation across consumer players – including revenue growth management, commercial operating model change and digital enablement of sales and marketing capabilities. He also has extensive cost optimisation experience, including turnaround and full operating model transformations.
Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal, Medeiros led PwC’s Consumer and Retail Consulting practice in the UK and across EMEA. He previously worked at Booz & Company (now Strategy&), and across operational and strategy roles at Tesco, a leading international grocery retailer. He started his career in Brazil and has since worked with clients across the US, UK, Australia, Europe and Southeast Asia.

Kathy Lloyd has over 25 years of experience in tax transformations in the HR domain. She specialises in HR and payroll transformations, commercial carve-outs, IR35 and employment status reviews, employee/employer redundancy programs, governance and compliance procedures, expense and benefit reviews and policy design. Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, she led EY’s Payroll and Employment Tax Advisory practice.
Chris Prout has extensive experience advising private equity firms and investment companies on multi-jurisdiction equity remuneration arrangements. He has worked on equity plan designs for large public companies and drafted the design plan rules/agreements for implementation. Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, he served as an Executive Director with EY’s International Transaction Tax group.
