Professional services firm K3 Capital has announced two board-level appointments, installing John Rigby as Executive Chairman and Ian Symes as Chief Executive Officer.

With over 600 staff across 23 offices in the United Kingdom (as well as a few offices overseas), K3 Capital is one of the country’s larger providers of advisory, tax, mergers & acquisitions, and restructuring services to the SME sector.

K3 Capital operates with 13 different brands in the market, including KBS Corporate Finance, K3 Debt Advisory, Knightsbridge Business Sales, and JE Consulting, and Quantuma.

According to Executive Vice Chairman Tony Ford, the double leadership moves will help the firm “provide greater focus in delivering investment in resource, capabilities, and talent.”

The appointments come shortly after Bolton-headquartered K3 Capital Group completed its £271 million deal with private equity group Sun European Partners, which saw the firm de-list from the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM).

Rigby has been with K3 Capital since 2000, becoming Managing Director in 2010 and CEO following admittance to the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market in April 2017. He now makes the step to Executive Chairman.

Commenting on his new role, Rigby said: “We have major plans for growth under the ownership of Sun European Partners. This change in K3’s leadership structure is the next logical step for us to ensure that we are aligned as one large entity to deliver on these plans. We are all very excited for this next stage of our journey.”

Freshly appointed Chief Executive Officer Ian Symes joined K3 in early 2022, having previously served as Executive Vice President at staffing giant Manpower. He was part of the team that led the transaction with Sun European Partners and has supported the businesses with scaling up its capabilities.

“We are already a hugely successful business and these changes to our leadership team will allow us to further focus, supporting our clients and teams across the group. I am really excited about our next chapter,” said Symes.
