Tensing has appointed David Eagle as the firm’s new UK Director of Service Delivery. He brings more than two decades of experience to the role, as the consultancy looks to grow its technical service offering.

Founded in 1985, Tensing is a European consulting firm which provides highly experienced Geographic Information Systems experts to help clients design digital maps using geospatial data, and analyse spatial and non-spatial information. Alongside its headquarters in Waardenburg, in the Netherlands, Tensing also has offices in Montpellier and Paris in France, and in the UK’s capital, London.

David Eagle joins the London office, as the firm’s new Director of Service Delivery for the UK team. At Tensing, Eagle will steer the technical service delivery for Tensing in the UK, working alongside other FME consultants, to share knowledge and bolster the firm’s joint services.

Speaking on his new role, Eagle noted, “I'm really excited to join Tensing, a consultancy with a family atmosphere and a strong focus on customer service. Personally I've always focussed on supporting customer's as their trusted advisor and at Tensing the whole ethos is about working collaboratively with our clients as strategic partners.”

Tensing will hope to leverage Eagle's knowledge and experience to better assist customers with their data integration challenges. This will draw on his 20 years of experience, including roles within Atkins’ Geospatial Solutions division, Local Government, and the last 11 years with 1Spatial, where he led the firm’s FME division.

FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) is a data integration tool used for transforming data. Along with support for formats like vector shapes, point clouds, 3D, and raster imagery, FME has been built to understand coordinate systems, elevation, and other spatial attributes.

Drawing on his knowledge in the sector, Eagle will also be working closely with the Tensing FME technical professional teams in Europe. This includes chairing several knowledge events around GIS and data integration, bringing his experience of delivering dedicated FME user group and FME World Tour events in the UK since 2008.
