Tammy Richardson leads WTW’s insurance consulting team in Europe
WTW has appointed Tammy Richardson as Europe Regional Leader for its insurance consulting and technology wing. She takes over the role from Colin Forrest.
Rebranded from Willis Towers Watson at the start of 2022, the firm now known simply as WTW is a British-American multinational risk management, insurance brokerage and advisory company. The firm has roots dating from 1828 and is the third largest insurance broker in the world.
In its Insurance Consulting and Technology (ICT) business, WTW has appointed a new leader for the continental team: Tammy Richardson. She moves up from her previous WTW role as UK & Ireland Leader for the same business.
Alice Underwood, Global Leader, Insurance Consulting and Technology at WTW, commented, “I’m delighted for Tammy to be taking on this key leadership role. Her industry expertise, deep knowledge of our leading-edge advice and solutions, and strategic vision will ensure we continue to unlock value and drive winning outcomes for our clients in Europe and around the globe.”
Richardson will draw on over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry for her new role. Her CV boasts a diversified background in finance, risk, strategy, sales and business development, leadership and P&L management – and before joining the firm in 2012, Richardson held executive and board-level roles at Genworth Financial and GE Capital.
Following her promotion, Richardson will lead a highly successful team of over 500 colleagues with responsibility for P&L management and strategy. In addition to becoming the newest member of WTW’s global ICT leadership team, Richardson is already a member of its GB Inclusion and Diversity Council and Executive Sponsor of the Young Professionals Network.
Speaking on the news, Richardson added, “We have an amazing team at WTW, with great capabilities and an innovative mindset. We are transforming the insurance industry with our unique combination of domain specific technology and insurance industry expertise bringing significant value to our clients by connecting across one WTW.”
The promotion comes as WTW looks to fill the role vacated by Colin Forrest. He was the ICT business’ Regional Leader for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) from 2019 – however, he joined Aon in March 2022, taking on the newly created role of Global CEO of the insurance consulting team within Aon’s reinsurance solutions unit.
Aon was poised to purchase WTW outright last year, however regulatory pressure eventually halted the proposed deal.
