The Management Consultancies Association has reported another record year for entries in its annual awards event, with a total of 44 consultancies competing for this year’s consulting awards.

Tamzen Isacsson, Chief Executive of the Management Consultancies Association (MCA), commented, “The MCA Awards is the key event in the industry calendar to highlight the outstanding work done by consultants and their clients across business and society and to promote the fantastic talent that works in our sector.”

“We’re delighted to have such terrific interest and welcome many new high profile judges to the independent judging panel to help decide which firms and individuals make it to the finalist stages and more.”

MCA Awards reports record entries for 2022 event

The MCA has been the consulting industry’s collective voice for more than six decades. For a third of that time, the MCA has hosted an annual awards ceremony to celebrate the work the industry does every day, in partnership with consultants and clients.

The 25th year of the MCA Awards has now commenced in earnest, with the organisation announcing that it has once again received a record number of entries for the 2022 ceremony. Overall, submissions are up 10% on 2021’s event – which itself saw a 46% rise on entries compared to the 2020 MCA Awards – which itself was a record year. Participation in the awards spans across membership with entries coming from a wide range of firms, with large, small and medium sized firms all supporting the industry’s key awards event.

New award categories have been announced for 2022, in recognition of the work done by MCA member firms in the prominent areas of sustainability and inclusion. For the Sustainability Award, there must be demonstration of work that has enabled clients and consultancies to deliver sustainability benefits for organisations and/or the wider society in the UK or overseas. The Inclusion Award will go to an individual who has excelled at championing and building inclusive workplaces and is a visible advocate and can demonstrate the impact of their work in their firm.

The new prizes may have partially prompted the additional spike in submissions – and particularly, smaller firms seem to feel like they are in with a chance. Among the 44 firms participating at the 2022 MCA Awards, there are 24 SMEs, more than ever before. Once all these submissions have been appraised by the judges, finalists will be announced in May and will be interviewed by a panel of judges in June.

The MCA will host a reception for all finalists at Tate Britain in September and the MCA Awards will then be presented at the Park Plaza on the 14th of November 2022. This year, the ceremony will be presented by respected newsreader and broadcaster Huw Edwards.
