Kilian Gourcuff re-joins M&A firm Capitalmind in Paris
Capitalmind, a corporate finance firm with offices in France, Netherlands and Denmark, has bolstered its French team with Kilian Gourcuff. The M&A advisor re-joins the firm from YellowKorner, and in his role as Manager Gourcuff will focus on clients in the media and media logistics landscape, as well as boost the firm’s expertise in supporting high growth SMEs.
After graduating from the University of Paris Dauphine, with a Master in Economics & Finance, and EMLYON Business School, with a Master in Corporate Finance, Kilian Gourcuff started his career in 2008 as an M&A Associate with Capital Partner. Gourcuff served just under four years for the Paris-based boutique, working across a range of corporate finance advisory services from M&A (company sales, acquisitions, mergers, MBO/MBI) to corporate funding (debt advisory, growth and MBO capital) and other services such as valuations. Clients he served include Châteauform, Hologram Industries and Sylpa.
In September 2012 Gourcuff moved to YellowKorner, a French publishing house which publishes and distributes art photographs in limited and numbered editions through an international network. At YellowKorner, he led the financial operations of the company, as well as from a financial perspective contributed to strategic decision-making and growth. Founded in 2006 by two friends, Alexandre de Metz and Paul-Antoine Briat, both lovers of photography from a young age, YellowKorner now has nearly 75 galleries located in over 20 countries.
Three years down the line, Gourcuff has decided to move back to his old employer, which now operates under the Capitalmind brand, following the merger between Capital Partner and Netherland-based BlueMind Corporate Finance in June 2014 and the subsequent rebranding. The M&A player focuses on small and midcap transactions, as well as financing of SMEs, and now operates with nearly 30 professionals across offices in Paris and Lyon (France), ’s-Hertogenbosch and Hilversum (Netherlands) and Copenhagen (Denmark), founded two months ago by Stig Madsen Lachenmeier, a former partner at Deloitte Corporate Finance. Gourcuff will be based in Paris, France.
Michel Degryck, Managing Partner and founder of Capitalmind, says he is delighted with the return of Gourcuff, stating: “We are pleased that Kilian has re-joined Capitalmind, strengthened by his valuable experience at YellowKorner. It boosts our expertise in the brand and media sector and provides very useful operational experience in the area of SME innovation and growth. Kilian’s arrival also demonstrates our ambition to attract new talent, in order to support the strong growth of the business.”
Recent transactions advised on by Capitalmind include the acquisition of Polymont Maintenance Industrielle by ADF Group (the second deal engagement for ADF over the past 2 years), a €4.5 million fundraising round for Texelis and the purchase of Milouda & Migal, an Israeli food safety laboratory, by Mérieux NutriSciences.
Globally, Capitalmind is member of Mergers Alliance, a corporate finance network established in 2010 which nowadays consist of 17 M&A advisory firms with a presence in 35+ countries worldwide.
