BJSS announces new Newcastle office
Consulting firm BJSS is continuing to invest in its expansion, with the news the company will launch a new office in Newcastle. The launch aims to create 40 jobs in the next 18 months.
A technology and engineering consultancy for businesses, BJSS has been expanding rapidly in recent months. BJSS global expansion in the 2020 financial year saw it launch in new markets including Australia – the business’ first location in the Asia-Pacific region – along with Portugal, bringing its global office tally to 15 with its headquarters based in Leeds.
Now, the firm has announced it is growing further in its native market, with the launch of a new locale in Newcastle. The office will open in the North-Eastern city’s technology hub, Quayside. Since March last year, BJSS has hired 750 across its offices and the company aims to hire 40 new employees in Newcastle by 2022, with all new recruits adopting BJSS’ company-wide hybrid working policy. The company will be recruiting for various software delivery roles, including platform and infrastructure engineers.
The initial focus of the operation at Rotterdam House will be to elevate BJSS’ well-established work within the public sector, with a core client being the NHS in the region. In addition, the team will support developing BJSS’ technology, engineering, consulting, cloud, data, and AI services. As the team grows, there will also be increased demand for operation managers, client service people, tech consultants and strategists.
BJSS Managing Director Stuart Bullock commented, “Expansion of the business continues to be important for BJSS. Newcastle’s exciting tech scene offers vast opportunities for us to continue growing and working with highly skilled and talented people. We’re incredibly excited to be contributing to the thriving community that inspires a sense of collaboration and offers a highly valuable digital tech talent pool. BJSS is a northern rooted business; we have no doubt the opening of this new office will play a large part in the continued success of the work we provide our clients daily.”
Newcastle is home to The National Innovation Centre for Data and is recognised for its growing tech talent pool. BJSS’ arrival is being supported by Invest Newcastle, part of NewcastleGateshead Initiative. The entity promoted the city’s assets, digital ecosystem and its potential as a place to locate and grow a business.
Jennifer Hartley, Director at Invest Newcastle, said, “This investment into Newcastle is a testament to the innovative and collaborative community of businesses in our region and cements our position as a leading tech hub in the UK. The recruitment of 40 highly skilled roles is a brilliant opportunity to tap into our talent pool with two leading universities on our doorstep.”
