Ken Brewer joins Alvarez & Marsal as Senior Advisor
Ken Brewer has joined Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, an affiliate of professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), as a Senior Advisor. In his new role he will strength the firm’s international tax offering, providing clients with the knowledge required to solve the most complex international tax issues, such as the new intellectual property regulations, inversion rules and Base Erosion Profit Sharing (BEPS).
Ken Brewer joins Alvarez & Marsal Taxand from Big Four professional service firm Deloitte, where he was a Partner in the firm’s International Tax Services. During his many years at the firm, Brewer developed his expertise in tax implications of complex business arrangements and transactions. He supported companies to avoid so-called “traps for the unwary” and identified opportunities to achieve tax savings. Prior to joining Deloitte, Brewer worked for multinational corporations, as well as privately held businesses – in both the US and in international arenas.
Brewer earned a BBA in accounting from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) and a JD from the University of Miami (Coral Gables) School of Law. In addition, he is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Brewer’s appointment as Senior Advisor to Alvarez & Marsal Taxand’s international tax team will see him support the firm’s national tax practice. He brings with him more than 40 years of experience with multinational corporations on federal and international tax matters. His expertise includes both cross state and cross boarder understanding of questions relating to taxable presence exposure, tax treaty issues, tax law aspects of related party transfer pricing and outbound transfers and inversions. His work has seen him engage with a wide range of industries, including among others biotech, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and financial services.
“Ken Brewer brings an impressive amount of technical expertise to solve the most complex international tax issues. He will approach our growing multi-national client base with a roll-up-your-sleeves look at the difficult tax complexities they are facing to uncover value, and tackle cross-broader challenges and legislative change which will undoubtedly impact their businesses,” comments Albert Liguori, a Managing Director with A&M Taxand in New York. “With recent intellectual property regulations, inversion rules and Base Erosion Profit Sharing (BEPS), having Ken on our team will be invaluable.”
