Duff & Phelps has appointed Aaron Ghobarah as Director in the firm’s Prudential Advisory Services team in London. His new role will see him deliver specialist prudential project-based work to support.
Commenting on his appointment, Aaron Ghobarah stated, “I’m thrilled to join such a great collection of experts in their respective fields. I’m looking forward to contributing to and supporting the wider practice as the prudential and adequate financial resources landscape changes over the coming years.”
Professional services firm Duff & Phelps provides governance, risk and transparency solutions around the world. It’s Prudential Advisory Service practice supports clients with prudential project-based work, while supporting the firm’s Compliance and Regulatory Consulting practice’s portfolio client base.
In his work as a Director in the team’s London wing, Ghobarah expands Duff & Phelps’ prudential service offering ahead of the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) implementation of new prudential standards over the coming year. Gobarah brings useful expertise to the firm in this regard, having previously held a number of senior roles with the regulator.
During his time with the FCA, Ghobarah held a number of roles including Manager and Acting Head of the Prudential Specialists Department. He notably oversaw and contributed to the development of the FCA’s framework for assessing adequate financial resources (Finalised Guidance 20/1), and also provided input to the UK’s implementation of the new Investment Firm Prudential Regime. Prior to this, Ghobarah was also responsible for the oversight of prudential reviews and the provision of technical advice across a range of financial services firms from small domestic to major international firms.
Mark Turner, Managing Director and Head of Duff & Phelps’ Prudential Advisory Services practice, commented, “Aaron is a recognised leader in the field of prudential regulation with a wealth of experience. We’re excited to bring him onto the team as we continue to grow and strengthen our prudential service offering. As the FCA implements new prudential standards over the coming year, we are already seeing significant demand for support in this area. We’re pleased to be able to help our clients meet this challenge with a strong and growing team of specialists.”
