The dealmakers that advised BGF's investment in Polar Technology
Polar Technology Management Group, a manufacturer of carbon and metal components, has landed a £10 million investment from private equity firm BGF.
The deal between the Oxfordshire-based company and the financial sponsor was advised on by M&A experts from several M&A consultancies. Buyer BGF received due diligence support form James Cowper Kreston (dealteam: Alex Nicholson and Michael Atkinson), while legal support was provided by Osborne Clarke (dealteam: Robert Wood and Robert Pook).
The private equity firm’s internal team was led by Greg Norman, Liam Pursall, Jack Teasdale and Mark Bryant.
“We have known the team at Polar Technology Management Group for some time and seen them deliver year-on-year. They have some very exciting technologies both already delivered and in development, and we are excited to partner with them to support the long-term growth of the business,” said Norman.
At the other side of the table, seller Polar Technology Management Group, which supplies its products to technology specialist companies in the medical and aerospace industries, was advised by Whitley Stimpson (tax advisory, dealteam: Ian Parker and Owen Kiffin) and Charles Russell Speechlys (legal advisory, William Nash and Svetlana Kisyova).
BGF’s investment will be used to support Polar Technology Management Group’s planned move into a state-of-the-art 100,000 sq. ft. facility at Horizon Technology Park in Eynsham, Oxfordshire, doubling the size of its production capacity and expand its headcount to over 300 in the next two years. The new facility is expected to be fully up and running during 2021
“This will enable us to grow faster, support our customers better and create hundreds of new jobs in the West Oxfordshire area over the next three years with investment planned in clean, sustainable, technologies supporting our expanding manufacturing base,” said Scott Roberts, co-founder of Polar Technology Management Group.
With over £2.5 billion invested in nearly 400 companies, BGF is one of the UK’s more active investors.
