14 consultancies in Times Top 100 Graduate Employers
For the twelfth year in a row, Big 4 firm PwC has been named the most popular and prestigious employer in the eyes of graduates in the UK. In total, 14 consulting firms have made The Times ‘Top 100 Graduate Employers’ list, including the other Big 4 players and the well-known strategy consultants.
Top 100 Graduate Employers
The Times ‘Top 100 Graduate Employers’ identifies the most sought–after and prestigious employers in the eyes of graduates in the UK. The list, which is based on the expectations of students, was first released in 1999. For this year’s list, the seventeenth edition of the ranking, High Fliers Research interviewed 18,412 graduates, asking them a simple but powerful question: “Which employer do you think offers the best opportunities for graduates?”
Since the launch, in 1999, only three employers made it to the top of the list: Accenture, found on #1 in the first ranking, Civil Service and PwC.
Big Four
For the twelfth year in a row PwC tops the list, securing the coveted #1 spot. According to The Times, the firm managed to secure the spot as a result of its consistently high profile at many of the country’s best-known universities, where it hosts up to 1,000 events and promotions for undergraduates and work experience schemes. The other Big 4 firms are, just as last year, also found in the top. While Deloitte and KPMG both dropped a few places – from third to sixth and from seventh to ninth respectively, EY managed to improve its ranking – moving up from #11 last year to #8 this year.
Other consulting firms in top 100
The complete top 100 of the Graduate Employers list contains 14 consulting firms. Of the ten other firms, four secured higher places in this year’s ranking compared to last year. Newton Europe secured the biggest win with a rise from #98 to #55, followed by McKinsey & Company, up from 29 to 22. Accenture and IBM also both gained popularity. This year’s list also contains two new firms: Mott Macdonald – found on #71 and BDO – found on #94. An overview of the consulting firms on the list:
