Deloitte names Andy Masters as UK Head of Insurance
The British wing of Big Four firm Deloitte has announced the appointment of its new insurance leader. Andy Masters succeeds Clive Buesnel, who has taken up a new role with wholesale broker Tysers.
The UK insurance sector has seen significant transformation over a sustained period, driven by regulation, cost and pricing pressures, evolving customer expectations and most recently from Covid-19. The pandemic has proved a real test of the sector’s reputation and resilience, and is likely to have lasting consequences for years to come.
Andy Masters is a Partner at Deloitte, boasting 30 years of experience working across strategy consulting and the insurance sector. In recent years he has specialised in helping organisations involved in the provision of savings and retirement products to develop and implement new ideas and strategies for growth, efficiency and customer engagement. Masters succeeds Clive Buesnel, who was recently named Chief Executive Officer of Tysers, the specialty London-based wholesale broker.
Richard Hammell, UK Head of Financial Services at Deloitte, said, “I’m excited to announce Andy as the firm’s new head of insurance. I am confident he’s the right candidate to lead the business at what is an important time for the future of the industry. He brings extensive experience to the role across the range of insurance sub-sectors – which will be critical to support our clients as they transform in years to come.”
Prior to joining Deloitte in 2017, Masters was a Partner at KPMG in the firm’s financial services advisory wing, heading up the savings and wealth sector. He also held senior positions with Navigant and Troika, having started his career with Accenture in 1992.
Commenting on his new challenge, Masters said, “Despite the challenges it undoubtedly faces, I believe the insurance sector will continue to thrive as it embraces technology and new ways of working to ultimately deliver better outcomes for customers.”
The insurance business drives close to 10% of Deloitte’s UK revenue by delivering the full set of services to a wide variety of clients. Masters joins Deloitte’s wider financial services sector leadership team, which also includes Head of Investment and Wealth Management Tony Gaughan, Head of Real Estate Siobhan Godley, Head of Banking and Capital Markets Vishal Vedi, Head of FinTech Louise Brett, Head of Private Markets Allee Bonnard, and Head of Regions Matt Perkins.
