IT-services firm Logica rebrands to CGI in the UK
The Brittish country organisation of IT services firm Logica has been rebranded to CGI. In May last year Logica was acquired by CGI for € 2.1 billion. CGI has approximately 72,000 employees in offices across 40 countries, it is the 5th largest IT services provider in the world. CGI UK has about 6,000 employees.
After announcing the acquisition, which was awarded two M&A awards, in CGI's homeland Canada Ron de Mos (the CEO of CGI in the Netherlands) said that the acquisition was the "saving grace" for Logic. According to him the IT consulting firm had "lost its way at the top". In January 2013 CGI announced that it would the Logica globally company name drop in favor of CGI. Mid-January Logica Netherlands was renamed CGI Netherlands and now also follows the British practice.
Tim Gregory, President of CGI in the UK, says: “The merged business brings together the best of both organizations. CGI’s financial strength and stringent focus on its business model offer a strong platform to make a real difference in the UK market. These attributes combined with Logica’s innovative spirit and technical heritage build a significantly stronger organisation designed to meet our client’s needs. This is a win-win for our clients, the market and our people”.
