Ministry of Defence awards SOTERIA contract to CGI

IT and business consulting services firm CGI has been awarded the UK Ministry of Defence’s SOTERIA contract. The programme will include specialist support to ensure a rapid response to operational demands, while driving innovation and security assurance underpinning UK mission data capability.

Neil Timms, senior vice president of space, defence and intelligence for the UK and Australia at CGI, said, “The award of SOTERIA reflects our deep expertise and long-standing role in delivering secure, mission-critical systems for Defence… This builds directly on our successful delivery of Project SHEPHERD and demonstrates the Ministry of Defence’s confidence in our ability to sustain and enhance secure mission-critical digital services.”

SOTERIA underpins the role of Joint Electronic Warfare Operational Support Centre (JEWOSC) as the UK defence authority for generating electromagnetic warfare (EW) and intelligence mission data. Together, the capabilities provide essential threat recognition, improved situational awareness and enhanced platform protection.

Under SOTERIA, CGI and its partners will deliver secure, resilient, and high-availability support; provide on-site operational support to ensure continuity of critical EW outputs; evolve and enhance support capabilities through a combination of hybrid Agile SAFe methodologies and traditional delivery approaches; and maintain and enhance mission-critical data services, supporting UK Defence intelligence outputs and operational situation awareness.

This contract continues CGI’s long-standing partnership with the JEWOSC, building on the successful delivery of Project SHEPHERD since 2011, providing support to EW mission data. It will also sustain and enhance the iDEWDb system, a critical asset of the UK defence sector, over an initial three-year period, with options to extend support through to 2032.

Founded in 1976, CGI has more than 94,000 consultants and professionals across the globe. The firm delivers an end-to-end portfolio of capabilities, from business consulting and strategic IT to systems integration, managed IT and business process outsourcing. Its Defence practice is one of the leading players in the sector – the team recently achieved a platinum rating for defence in the 2026 Consultancy.uk industry rankings.
