Stuart Sweeney joins Debt Advisory team of Spectrum
The debt advisory team of Spectrum Corporate Finance has been strengthened by the arrival of finance expert Stuart Sweeney. Joining the financial services advisory firm as an Associate Director, Sweeney brings a decade of industry expertise to his new role.
In order to secure the financing they need to implement their strategies, companies are having to navigate an increasingly complex set of rules and regulations. Banks are keeping a firm hand on the purse strings, while they face a worrying decline in bank liquidity – making obtaining funding a difficult and critical issue for most firms. Debt advisory consultants have become increasingly important in that environment.
Playing into that demand, Spectrum Corporate Finance is the largest independent corporate finance boutique in the South, focused purely on lead and debt advisory. The firm works with business owners and management teams, advising them through important transactions at each stage of the business life-cycle, including raising finance, completing acquisitions and planning and executing company sales.
The continued high demand for debt advisory services drove an exceptional year for Spectrum’s debt team, completing 24 transactions in 2019 and raising circa £0.8 billion on behalf of management teams and private equity investors funding acquisitions, raising working capital facilities or refinancing and recapitalising existing debt facilities. In order to boost services the firm offers to meet the debt advisory needs of its clients, Spectrum has appointed Stuart Sweeney as a new Associate Director.

With a background in banking at Lloyds and CIT Bank, Sweeney is an experienced corporate finance professional, who has dedicated much of his career to operating in the Leveraged Finance space, supporting both PE and Corporate clients with their M&A, recapitalisation and refinancing activities across a broad range of sectors, both in the UK and internationally. In his role at Spectrum, Sweeney will work closely with Ian Milne, Simon Sherliker and the debt advisory team on all areas of debt advisory projects, including transaction management, document negotiation, management and lender presentations and financial modelling.
