Recruitment consultancy donates £25,000 to children's charity
Following an array of activities such as scavenger hunts and a pie-in-the-face contest, recruitment consultancy Robert Walters has donated over £25,000 toward Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity. The organisation helps under-fives with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments realise their potential.
Every year in the UK, 1,800 children are born with cerebral palsy – a condition that affects a child's muscle control and movement, and is often caused by a condition to the brain. Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity aims to give children the very best start towards a life of greater independence.
This year, specialist consultancy Robert Walters selected the group as its charity of choice, and undertook a number of fundraising activities on its behalf in the Autumn. Fundraising activities included scavenger hunts, pie-in-the-face, chilli eating competition, and the company’s own version of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Pilar Cloud, Executive Manager at Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity commented, “The team of employees at Robert Walters, Walters People and Resource Solutions brought a huge energy, creativity and fun to this Charity through their Global Charity Day; it was wonderful to see every single member of staff throughout all of their UK offices rolling up their sleeves and getting directly involved in fundraising through such a diverse range of activities."
This feat was especially poignant as Richard Johnson, Principal at Robert Walters, has received ongoing support from the charity after first receiving a complex prognosis for his son of quad cerebral palsy, global development delay, infantile spasms (severe epilepsy) and cortical visual impairment (registered blind). The firm ultimately generated a donation of £25,428 for the charity.
UK CEO of Robert Walters, Chris Hickey said, “Given that the charity rely entirely on the community to raise funds, we’re extremely proud to have the opportunity to raise money for the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity and to help them continue to deliver such incredible support to children and their families.”
