International M&A advisory firm Equiteq has appointed a new Managing Director in its London-based team. Sohail Ahmad brings more than 16 years of experience to the role, having previously been a Director with Deloitte.

With due diligence and a number of other issues likely to become more complex across Europe and the world as Brexit approaches, it has become increasingly important for firms leveraging external expertise to weigh up mergers and acquisitions in the consulting industry. In the midst of this, Equiteq, an international M&A advisory firm to the professional services industry, has been preparing for a period of high demand.

Earlier in the year, this saw Equiteq announce that it had appointed Guido Boero as a Director, having previously been a Project Leader at BCG, among other positions in the consulting industry. Now, Equiteq has continued to prepare for a period of heightened demand in its area of specialism with the hire of Sohail Ahmad as Managing Director.

Ahmad will further push Equiteq’s growing investment banking practice in Europe. Based in London, he will actively engage with the community of entrepreneurs and private equity firms in the knowledge economy, as well as lead on investment banking project delivery.

Commenting on his new role, Ahmad said, “I am pleased to be joining Equiteq at a pivotal time in the company’s growth journey. Equiteq offers an outstanding integrated platform to help clients identify and grow key value drivers, as well as deep operational knowledge, sub-sector expertise and excellent international reach to support M&A delivery in realising that value.”

The new Managing Director brings extensive experience to Equiteq, particularly in completing transactions with entrepreneurs, private equity funds and major strategic acquirers in the knowledge economy, with a strong focus on the recruitment sector. He joins Equiteq after a 16-year career with Deloitte, during which he latterly co-led the human capital services M&A team. Prior to that, he worked within the recruitment industry. Ahmad holds a degree in French and German from the University of Southampton, and is a qualified accountant and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Nick Jones, Global Head of M&A at Equiteq, remarked, “We are delighted to welcome Sohail on to the platform. He has a wealth of experience in advising clients particularly in the human capital sector where we see real opportunity for Equiteq to gain market share. Sohail brings deep industry expertise and valuable industry relationships to clients that will benefit from Equiteq’s sector-focussed consulting and M&A services.”
