DEI Best Places to Work
The Disability Equality Index (DEI) Best places to Work ranking, which is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and the US Business Leadership Network (USBLN), celebrates the companies that excel in their overall disability inclusion policies and practices. To qualify for this title, companies have to complete the DEI survey, which judges the companies on four major categories: Culture & Leadership, Enterprise-wide Access, Employment Practices, and Community Engagement & Support Services.
For the first edition of the annual survey, 80 Fortune 1000-size companies signed up, of which 19 scored 100 out of 100 on the survey. More than half (43) scored an 80 or above. “I am extremely pleased with the results of this ground-breaking collaboration between members of the business and disability communities. It’s a real testament to what can happen when people work together toward shared goals,” comments Helena Berger, Acting President and CEO of AAPD.
Among the nineteen companies that had a score of 100, three consulting firms are to be found:
“We are thrilled to be able to recognize these business leaders, who are truly setting an example for the business community. We’re also tremendously excited by the level of overall participation in, and support for, the DEI,” concludes Jill Houghton, Executive Director of the USBLN.
