Professional services firm KPMG in the US has been named a coolest company to work for in New York. KPMG’s ranking is part of HR company O.C. Tanner’s top 10 coolest companies list, which has been compiled from a survey among 20,000 employees in NYC. Other companies listed include American Express, Goldman Sachs and Teach for America.

In 2013, HR consulting and services company O.C. Tanner launched the ‘Coolest Companies to Work For’ award to recognise companies that provide exceptional work environments. The firm compiles different lists for several regions in the US, including the Bay Area, Portland, Indianapolis, Kansas City, San Diego, Denver and New York, which are published by its ‘a’ Magazine.

To find the coolest companies in New York, the firm partnered with Great Rated!, the workplace review site from Great Place to Work, which surveyed almost 20,000 employees on their leaders, colleagues, work atmosphere, challenges, rewards, communication and pride.

Based on the results of the survey, O.C. Tanner selected the top 10 coolest companies to work for in New York. The 10 companies that made the list are:

KPMG US
KPMG US, which is headquartered in New York, has 26.497 employees working from its 94 US offices. The firm is praised by its employees for its emphasis on training and career growth. The KPMG Business School allows employees to be trained on technical, business and leadership topics, and employees that want to expand their horizon can participate in job rotations or relocate within the US or globally. Other aspects that helped the firm secure its listing are the 12 hours of paid volunteer time per year per employee and the encouragement for employees to share the positive impact of their work on clients and the community. In addition, KPMG recognises employees’ great work with awards and hosts several social events, including summer barbecues.
