EY professional Stuart Sweeney joins Raymond James Corporate Finance
As Raymond James Corporate Finance looks to expand its year-old London office, it has hired a new Managing Director. Stuart Sweeney arrives from EY, where he was most recently an Associate Partner in the firm’s Financial Services wing.
Raymond James Financial is a diversified financial services company providing private client group, capital markets, asset management, banking and other services to individuals, corporations and municipalities. The company holds total client assets of $790 billion, with approximately 7,800 financial advisors in 3,100 locations across the world. In 2017, the firm established a new London office, via the expansion of its Global Technology & Services banking team.
As the firm looks to bolster its offering in its London office, Raymond James has announced the appointment of Stuart Sweeney as a Managing Director. The former EY professional will focus on companies delivering tech-enabled financial services. In this role, Sweeney’s practice will complement the Global Technology & Services banking team which helped form the London office one year ago. The Raymond James Financial Services team now comprises 14 managing directors worldwide and over 30 staff who have already completed 38 transactions in 2018.
Before arriving at Raymond James, Sweeney was an Associate Partner with Big Four professional services giant EY. Sweeney spent four years at the firm’s Financial Services corporate finance practice, having joined from ComputerShare, where he spent nearly a decade, rising to Director, Corporate Development, Continental Europe in that time. He holds a degree in Modern Languages from the University of Bristol.
Commenting on his new role, Sweeney stated, “I am delighted to join the Raymond James team as we expand our Financial Services practice and work closely with the London-based Technology & Services team. I look forward to helping our European Investment Banking organization leverage into Europe and Asia the success and expertise of the Financial Services team established in North America.”
Jim Bunn, co-head of Raymond James Global Equities and Investment Banking, added, “Raymond James offers our European clients unique cross-border M&A expertise and access to US financing via our North American equity capital markets platform. With our offices in Frankfurt, Munich and London we have solidified our leading position in mid-market investment banking in Europe, particularly in Technology & Services, and we expect to now do the same in Financial Services.”
