Altran buys German car engineering specialist IndustrieHansa
Altran has bought German car engineering specialist IndustrieHansa. Because of the acquisition of this car engineering specialist from in Munchen, Germany will be the second-largest market for Altran after France. The advisory firm declares it expects to announce three more acquisitions in the coming days.
IndustrieHansa was founded 35 years ago. The engineering firm has 1,800 employees and specialists in car, aeronautics and energy sectors. It has a long working history with several leading German car manufacturers, including Audi, BMW en Daimler.
Analysts reacted positively to the purchase. “Before the acquisition of IndustrieHansa, Altran was the 11th engineering and IT consulting specialist in Germany. Now its market share makes it the 5th player – a large step. In addition, the German market is essential given the weight of its economy and industry within Europe” says an analyst from a French bank.
Acquisition path
Mid 2012 Altran announced it is planning on putting through 3 or 4 large acquisitions in 2012 and 2013. The aggressive growth strategy is part of Altran’s new organizational strategy for the period 2012-2015: growing to reaching a turnover of over €2 billion by the year 2015. In June Altran bought advisory firm Alpha Three Consulting, an American consultancy firm having offices in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. And now the acquisition of IndustrieHansa follows.
“We are still in negotiation with three targets, one in the UK, one firm that specializes in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions and a large consulting and engineering firm in India” says Altran CEO Philippe Salle. “We expect to announce at least one more deal in the course of 2013."
