Simon Marr has been appointed as Divisional Director of WYG’s Risk & Security Consultancy business. The new member of the professional services firm is a former Director of Safety, Security & Resilience at the BBC.

International professional services firm WYG serves clients across three business streams; Advisory, Consulting and International Development. The firm caters to the needs of businesses in more than 50 locations across the UK, Europe, Africa, and Asia, working to create value, protect value, and manage risk. As a result, the firm is a partner of choice for organisations operating in complex or challenging environments.

As global instability threatens to create an uncertain future for world-wide businesses across every industry, the firm has begun work to strengthen its offering, in anticipation of heightened demand. Lately, this has seen the hiring of Simon Marr to the firm, who became the leader of WYG’s Risk and Security consultancy arm.

Simon Marr, Divisional Director at WYG

Marr previously led the BBC High Risk team in the development and implementation of high-risk security and safety policies, working to enable BBC employees to work in challenging and dangerous environments. Relatedly, Marr is uniquely equipped to understand such environments himself, as he also boasts a 28-year service record as a British Army officer, and even received an MBE for his services, before taking positions with the Ministry of Defence, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and the Cabinet Office on security and stabilisation policy issues.

In his new role at WYG, the Divisional Director will lead the firm’s Risk & Security Consultancy business. He will also be tasked with further development of the wing, which helps organisations manage political, economic, and security risks in complex and hostile environments. His position will see him focus on FTSE 100 clients, existing HM Government customers, and the broader Security, Justice and Defence Sectors.

Commenting on the appointment, Clive Anderson, Managing Director at WYG, said, “Simon has an impressive track record in security and stabilisation policy issues and will be a welcome addition to the team. We are delighted that he has joined the business to help further develop our specialist global risk consultancy that helps organisations succeed in a volatile world.”
