A&M appoints new Managing Directors Gougousis and Jones
Alvarez & Marsal has appointed Pete Gougousis and Jeffrey Jones as Managing Directors within the firm’s Transaction Advisory Group. The pickups boost the firm’s capabilities in a potentially fast changing tax environment in the US.
Prior to re-joining professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), Pete Gougousis worked at Strategic Funding Source where he was a Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis. In his first stint at A&M, Gougousis spent five years with the company, latterly in the role of Senior Director. Earlier in his career he worked for Big Four consulting group KPMG for six and a half years, most recently as a Manager in the firm’s M&A Transaction Services segment, and formerly as an Associate.
Gougousis, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Penn State University, returns to the firm as a Managing Director in its Transaction Advisory Group practice; he is based out of New York. He brings more than 13 years of experience to the role, including co-founding A&M’s Financial Industry Group in 2009. His experience will be leveraged to continue to support M&A transactions for the firm’s clients across segments.
Jeffrey Jones meanwhile joins A&M’s New York office as a Managing Director in its Transaction Advisory Group. He leverages his extensive experience in the investment software space to support the firm’s clients manage their increasingly complex transactions, particularly in the current M&A environment.
Jones, who holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Oregon, previously worked at Donnelley Financial Solutions, most recently he was a Managing Director in the firm’s Global Capital Markets segment. His 12 years at the firm included considerable focus on software solutions to the investment community. He previously held similar roles for Merrill Corporation and Elabra, focused on supporting clients in the area of secondary offerings and government debt issuances.
Commenting on the appointments, Anthony Caporrino, Managing Director and US Practice Leader remarked, “Today’s complex and unique business climate carries a degree of uncertainty, which presents numerous challenges — and in many cases, opportunities — for our clients. Pete brings extensive transaction advisory expertise along with a keen understanding of current challenges facing clients and issues looming on the horizon. Jeffrey brings a unique skill set around sponsor coverage in the transaction community.”
“With three key factors likely to impact deal-making — namely tax reform, repatriation and anticipated deregulation — it is critical that we have the right team of experts who can adeptly navigate the potential upside for our clients,” said Ryan Farrell, Managing Director and Financial Industry Group Leader. “The private equity sector may be on the precipice of a real transformation, and we have strategically bolstered our practice in line with these macro trends and client demands.”
