Aon, KPMG, Mercer and PwC win Actuarial Awards
Aon Benfield, Phil Tippin of KPMG, Deborah Cooper of Mercer, and Joseph Warne of PwC have been recognised by the Actuarial Post as "best performers" in the actuarial industry.
On a yearly basis, online actuarial portal Actuarial Post hands out Awards to the top performers in the actuarial industry, across 8 categories: Actuary of the Year, Pensions Actuary of the Year, Life Actuary of the Year, Investment Actuary of the Year, General Investment Actuary of the Year, Employer of the Year, Recruiter of the Year, and Social Media Champion. This year’s Awards have been announced in the 44th issue of the online magazine.
Actuary of the Year
Phil Tippin, Insurance Partner at KPMG has won the Actuary of the Year Award. Tippin has extensive experience in actuarial consulting, having worked as Actuarial Manager at Deloitte, Actuary at Venton Underwriting Agencies, and General Insurance actuarial consultant at Watson Wyatt, prior to joining KPMG almost 14 years ago.
Pensions Actuary of the Year
Deborah Cooper, Actuary and Professional Leader of Mercer’s UK Retirement Business, was awarded with the Pensions Actuary of the Year Award. Cooper joined Mercer more than 14 years ago, and fulfilled the role of Lecturer in Actuarial Science at the City University London for 12 years before joining the firm in 2000. Commenting on the Award, Cooper says: “I am delighted to receive this award. It was an honour just to have been nominated, but to get this ultimate recognition from those I work with in the pensions industry is exceptional.”
Employer of the Year
Aon Benfield, a reinsurance intermediary and full-service capital advisor and division of Aon, has been recognised as the Employer of the Year as the firm “empowers its actuaries by investing in career planning to make the most of their specialist skills, balancing variety with technical excellence.”
Social Media Champion
Joseph Warne, DC Pensions Manager at PwC, won the Social Media Champion Award. Warne started his career in the pensions industry as Pensions Administrator at Jardine Lloyd Thompson, after which he joined KPMG as DB & DC Consultant Pensions, before joining PwC as DC Consultant Pensions in 2011. Warne was promoted to DC Pensions Manager in 2014.
